HORSESHOE BAY — Dr. Douglas J. Fox of NeuroTexas has joined the Llano Memorial Healthcare System offering neurological surgery services at the Lake Area Specialty Clinic, 201 Bay West Blvd.

Fox grew up in St. Louis. His clinical interests include cerebrovascular neurosurgery, skull-base surgery and complex spinal surgery including the cranio-cervical junction. He is widely published and maintains an active research interest in cerebrovascular physiology and the development of new surgical technologies to improve neurosurgical care.

He is an associate of NeuroTexas, which is a single-specialty neurosurgery group serving Austin and the Central Texas region. The physicians are all fellowship-trained and treat all surgical disorders of the brain and spine.  They work closely with hospital and outpatient facilities to ensure that patients receive the highest quality integrated medical care possible.

Fox is dedicated to the advancement of neuroscience and is working with local Austin institutions to create a center for neurological research and education.

“We are fortunate to have a physician with Dr. Fox’s clinical expertise join our medical community and welcome the opening of his practice in neurological surgery at our specialty clinic,” said Kevin Leeper, chief executive officer of Llano Memorial Healthcare System.

Fox sees patients at the clinic every Friday afternoon. He is a Medicare provider and has contracted with many of the major insurance plans.  For more information or to schedule an appointment call (830) 598-5968.

Man's goal: Keeping history alive

BURNET — When "Buddy" Inman drives along U.S. 281, he's thinking about the past.

He wonders about others who have traveled the road and why and how their journeys relate to Texas history.

Inman's interest in history is one reason he joined the Sons of the Republic of Texas, a genealogical organization committed to preserving the history of the state and passing it on to the next generation of Texans.
