BURNET — Seton Highland Lakes Health System has hired Dr. Akbar Hussaini as their new full-time orthopedic surgeon.

He offers all types of general orthopedic services and surgery including sports medicine, hip and knee care, wrist and hand disorders, shoulder treatment, fracture care and total joint replacement.

“I am very excited to be in the Texas Hill Country as well as being part of the Seton Highland Lakes family,” Hussaini said. “I look forward to providing this new medical service to area residents as well as becoming involved in the community.”

His office is located in the Seton Highland Lakes Specialty Clinic Building 2, which is directly behind the Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, 3201 S. Water St. (U.S. 281).

“With the addition of Dr. Hussaini to the Seton Medical Group, we have expanded the scope of our patient care again by offering another much-needed specialty medical service,” said Scott Fuller, who at the time was vice president and chief operating officer of Seton Highland Lakes Hospital. “Providing residents of the Highland Lakes area with quality care close to home is a primary focus for Seton Highland Lakes. We are pleased to be able to follow through with our commitment through the addition of Dr. Hussaini.”

Man's goal: Keeping history alive

BURNET — When "Buddy" Inman drives along U.S. 281, he's thinking about the past.

He wonders about others who have traveled the road and why and how their journeys relate to Texas history.

Inman's interest in history is one reason he joined the Sons of the Republic of Texas, a genealogical organization committed to preserving the history of the state and passing it on to the next generation of Texans.
