Lee named Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year

HORSESHOE BAY – Glenn Lee, director of golf at Horseshoe Bay Resort, has been named the 2008 Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the western chapter.

The STPGA award is one of the organization’s highest honors and is given to members who possess outstanding qualities in leadership, strong moral character and have a substantial record of service to the association and the game of golf.

He has more than 20 years of experience in golf operations in the resort industry and joined Horseshoe Bay Resort in 2007. Since that time, he has been instrumental in increasing the number of junior and amateur tournaments at the resort.

The STPGA is includes of more than 800 golf professionals throughout their 200 facilities in Southern Texas. They promote an extensive tournament program in which professionals, amateurs and junior golfers can compete.

Man's goal: Keeping history alive

BURNET — When "Buddy" Inman drives along U.S. 281, he's thinking about the past.

He wonders about others who have traveled the road and why and how their journeys relate to Texas history.

Inman's interest in history is one reason he joined the Sons of the Republic of Texas, a genealogical organization committed to preserving the history of the state and passing it on to the next generation of Texans.
