The Bistro at Flat Creek Estate opens restaurant

AUSTIN – Flat Creek Estate is putting the final touches on their winery expansion project, bringing a 10,000-case production to the winery, adding a tasting center and opening a new restaurant, the Bistro at Flat Creek Estate.

They attract many visitors from the Highland Lakes.

The Bistro will feature a limited menu on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.

Owners Rick and Madelyn Naber purchased the 80-acre property in 1998 and began Flat Creek Estate, turning 20 acres of vineyard with abundant grapes into a wine-production facility.

Man's goal: Keeping history alive

BURNET — When "Buddy" Inman drives along U.S. 281, he's thinking about the past.

He wonders about others who have traveled the road and why and how their journeys relate to Texas history.

Inman's interest in history is one reason he joined the Sons of the Republic of Texas, a genealogical organization committed to preserving the history of the state and passing it on to the next generation of Texans.
